Oral contraceptive could be one of the reasons for low sex drive in women who have been taking it for a long period as it interferes with sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) resulting in decreased levels of free testosterone which governs libido in them. Hormonal contraceptives can lead to problems with arousal, lubrication and also result in frigidity and mood swings. However sometimes it is subjective and also varies with different types of OCs. In your case stress and the fact your husband is on antidepressant could also contribute towards less than active sex drive as a conjugal unit. You can try getting an IUCD inserted soon after your periods as an alternative to hormonal contraceptive and see the difference. However it’s effect on sex hormones lingers on for some time even after discontinuation. So have patience.
